Setting up FAQs
Step 1: From the motor nameplate, know size of the motor. This motor size is always in horsepower (HP).
Step 2: Determine the motor's Full Load Current (FLC).
Step 3: Factor in safety by adding 50% to the FLC calculated in step 2 above
For example your motors FLC is 9A
Add 50 % to it. You get 13.5A
Hence from the nearest 6 - 10A and 9 - 14A starters available it is prudent to choose 9 - 14A.
